About This Site
CoinCollectingTools.com was created to give collectors clear, practical resources for identifying, organizing, understanding, and enjoying their collections. Coin collecting is a hobby built on history, patience, and attention to detail. Yet many collectors still rely on spreadsheets, notebooks, or cell phone photos to track their coins, precious metals, and progress. I did too, and while I prefer to collect full sets, I rarely use the old school blue folders to help track dates and coin types. This site and it’s add-ons exist to solve that problem by providing digital resources and tools designed specifically for coin collectors and stackers.
How It Started
I myself am a lifelong collector, an amateur treasure hunter drawn to shiny things and tangible objects of value. My earliest memories of collectable coins come from my father returning home from work with small handfuls of change from around the world. He worked for a large engineering company with offices all over the globe, and his coworkers would return from international trips saying - “hey Chris, your son collects things right? Would he want these leftover Euro coins?”. I would excitedly receive these gifts and toss them in my treasure chest, with no clue that this was molding my future hobby.
For years to come, I kept on collecting world coins along with any buffalo nickels or wheat cents I found in circulation. I didn’t look at them all too often but I was proud of my treasure chest and hoped to learn the details of each piece inside one day. The choice to finally dive in came with the pending birth of my beloved daughter, Brielle. Like most young parents, we were strapped for cash, and I hoped to find a holy grail amongst my collectables. This of course was not the case but that didn’t stop me from researching and labeling everything I had, then visiting my LCS (local coin shop) for the very first time. Nelson and Juan, the owners of Tex Mex Coins in El Paso, TX, couldn’t have been more kind and helpful in the beginning of my journey. They helped me finish identifying my world coins, taught me the basics of collecting U.S. coinage, explained grading standards, bullion investing techniques, and much more. This is what poured & cured the foundation I’ve built upon ever since.
Now with years of experience as a collector, stacker & amateur reseller - I decided to merge my web design skills with my favorite hobby to create an all-in-one package of resources for coin collectors of all levels. This site is designed for:
New coin collectors learning the basics
Experienced collectors managing higher ticket pieces
Industry professionals
Precious metals stackers
Hobbyists of all levels looking to learn more about this world
Whether you collect casually or take a more serious approach, the resources here are built to scale with your experience. This hobby is constantly evolving, and so is this site. New guides, tools, type sets, and features are added regularly as the things change and new idea arise.
